For former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa, the death of his friend, philosopher and guide, Dr V.S. Acharya, who died while attending a programme in the city, has come as a big shock.
Speaking to reporters, Mr Yeddyurappa fondly recalled memories of a trusted friend who had a solution for every problem he and the party had faced.
“We (BJP leaders) have been orphaned. He has left us when we needed him most. We are facing troubles of an unprecedented kind.”
Frankly admitting that he did not know how to react at this juncture, BSY said Dr Acharya was his source of strength and a guide throughout his career.
“He stood by me like a solid rock when I faced the worst situations of my life. I trusted him a lot. I am someone who trusts few people- probably only five or six- and Dr Acharya stood first in the list. It was his name which came to my mind whenever I faced a problem,” he said.
According to him, Dr Acharya was deeply hurt by the porn film controversy. “He told just three days ago that he felt ashamed. I suspect that the incident took its toll of his health. He was a disciplined person and believed in living a non-controversial life. But the controversies which followed in quick succession really bothered him,” said BSY.
