A day after the former husband of Chethana Kumble, wife of the Indian cricketer Anil Kumble was unable to register a complaint at Bharatinagar police station against the former India cricket captain for impersonation and fraud, Kumar V. Jahgirdar approached the city police commissioner on Thursday and attempted to do the same. Both Bharathinagar police and the commissioner’s office have told Mr Jahgirdar they would seek legal opinion before registering his complaint. Along with a petition, he has submitted documents obtained through RTI which show that in an application for a passport for his step-daughter, Mr Kumble signed against the slot marked father. “Anil Kumble impersonated me by posing as me,” alleged Mr Jahgirdar.
Kumble complainant approaches top cop
The former husband of Chetana Kumble, Mr Kumar V. Jahgirdar, has approached the police commissioner to lodge a complaint against his former wife and her current husband, former cricketer Anil Kumble. He has charged them with impersonation and fraud. Mr Jahgirdar went to the police chief since the Bhartinagar police had not yet registered his complaint. “As the city police commissioner was not in his office, I have submitted the petition to his clerical staff urging them to instruct Bharathinagar police to register the complaint immediately,” said Mr Jahgirdar.
“I have obtained documents pertaining to the impersonation committed by Mr Kumble and Chetana to renew my daughter Aaruni Kumar Jahgirdar’s passport. Even though the documents clearly show Mr Anil Kumble of having impersonated to renew Aaruni’s passport, it is surprising that the police are delaying registering the complaint. Police say they have sought legal opinion to find out under which sections the case can be booked,” Mr Jahgirdar said. “It is mandatory that two important forms, Annexure- I and Anexure-H had to be submitted by the natural parents. On scrutiny of Annexure-I, it was revealed that the declaration had been made by my ex-wife as mother, wherein the passport rules mandated that Annexure-I has to be signed by the father. In fact, the title of Annexure-I states: ‘Declaration of father if passport in case of minor child’. It is clear that my ex-wife purposely made a false declaration on my behalf and cheated with an intention to mislead the authorities,” Mr Jahgirdar alleged.
“On scrutiny of Annexure-H, it is seen that though my name is shown as the father, in the signature column, it is seen that Mr Anil Kumble has signed as father. The signature does not belong to me. It is clear then that Mr Anil Kumble had impersonated me. The reason for me to suspect that this signature is that of Mr Anil Kumble is because it resembles the signature on his passport,” Mr Jahgirdar alleged.
