Congress to cadre: Boycott the tainted

Taking serious exception to the ruling party delaying action against the three former ministers allegedly involved in the porn film episode, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, Dr G. Parameshwar on Monday gave a clarion call to his party workers and leaders to boycott programmes attended by the ‘tainted trio.’

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a protest rally near Town Hall in the city, Dr Parameshwar asked, “How can the ruling party be so callous about the people's mandate? People elected them in good faith hoping that they would redress grievances, but the expectations have been belied.”

Taking a swipe at Speaker K.G. Bopaiah's decision to constitute a House committee to investigate the porn viewing episode, the KPCC president wondered if a probe was needed at all? “The entire issue is in the public domain, even a schoolgoing child can see who is the culprit. The Speaker’s decision to constitute a House committee is intended to dilute the entire issue. It is the responsibility of our block Congress presidents to ensure that these tainted legislators face embarrassment wherever they go,” he said.

In a response to a question, Dr Parameshwar said the Congress was left with no option but to resort to aggressive measures as the ruling party had failed to take stringent action against those who watched porn on the floor of the House.
