Now, you can shop, dine or watch a movie while you are waiting for your next bus! The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has planned a Traffic Transit Management Centre (TTMC) at Jayanagar 4th T Block. The centre will incorporate a hyper-market, food court, a multiplex with 10 screens, restaurants and much more. The upcoming TTMC will not only provide for leisure activities but will also integrate various modes of transportation such as KSRTC, taxis, and autos. A KSRTC bus terminal, bus depots and a commercial complex has been planned on a public private partnership (PPP) basis on the 9.78 acres of land in Jayanagar, at the 4th T block.

“Jayanagar is the prime residential area and shopping hub of South Bengaluru. The catchment also includes other prominent localities like Basavanagudi, J.P. Nagar, BTM Layout, and Bannerghatta Road. Jayanagar area is also considered to be the city’s bus hub and is getting metro connectivity too. The area is well-suited to have an integrated transportation hub,” said a senior official in BMTC. The tendering process for the project is currently taking place and will be completed in 24 months from the appointed date. There will also be a provision for car parking as per BDA norms.

The park and ride facility will be provided for BMTC passengers with parking charges approved by BMTC from time to time. There will be a passenger waiting area, information kiosks, cafeteria, restaurants, wash rooms etc at the upcoming TTMC. “A Special Purpose Company (SPC) shall be incorporated under the Companies Act, 1956, by the preferred bidder for the purpose of implementing and managing the project. The concession period for the project implementing agency will be 30 years, which includes the construction period, and the concession format will include design, finance, development, construction, implementation and handover to BMTC/ KSRTC within 24 months from the appointed date,” added the official.
