Hyderabad, Nov. 25: In an attempt to attract Indians educated vernacular languages, the Hyderabad-based Micro-soft India Development Centre (MSIDC) has developed a set of tools — Microsoft Indic Language Input Tools — to make local languages Web and computer friendly.

The tools help to transliterate written text into any of six Indian languages — Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali and Malayalam.

This will help a person type in Indian language text directly into any application running on Windows, such as Microsoft Word or Windows Live Messenger or into any text box on a web page.

Mr Srini Koppolu, the corporate vice president and MD, MSIDC, said, “Tools that make it easy to search, communicate and create content in Indian la-nguages are key for broader computing adoption and this set of tools are aimed at addressing this need.”
