Rupee recovers by 13 paise against dollar in early trade

Rupee is trading at 66.67 against the dollar in early trade.

Mumbai: The rupee appreciated by 13 paise to 66.67 against the dollar in early trade on May 17 at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on increased selling of the US currency by exporters and banks.

Forex dealers said domestic equity markets opening with gains and dollar's weakness against other currencies overseas too supported the rupee.

Yesterday, the rupee had lost three paise to hit two-month closing low of 66.80 on persistent dollar demand from banks and importers on the back of higher greenback in the overseas market.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex rose by 167.22 points or 0.65 per cent to 25,820.45 in early trade on May 17.
