Yash Birla gets protection from arrest till December 21

The court had accepted the request and kept the matter on December 21.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (MPID) court on Monday extended interim protection from arrest of businessman Yash Birla till December 21.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on October 20 had filed supplementary chargesheet in the case against Mr Birla for allegedly duping around 150 investors of Birla Power Solutions Private Limited (BPSL).

Following this, Mr Birla had filed a bail application in the court. On Monday, the EOW told to the court that it did not get a copy of the bail application, without which the agency cannot file any reply as well as argue the matter in court.

The court had accepted the request and kept the matter on December 21. The bail application stated that Mr Birla had co-operated with the investigation agency at every stage of the proceedings and undertakes to cooperate in future as well, if required.
