Yatra.com offers UPI as alternate payment option to customers

Yatra has been a differentiator in the OTA industry by providing EMI's and seven different wallet payment options to its customers.

New Delhi: Online travel solutions provider Yatra.com today offered Unified Payment Interface (UPI) as an alternate payment option to its customers through its website a move which is in line with the Government's efforts to promote digital payments.

The new addition would allow customers to pay directly from a bank account to different merchants, both online and offline, the travel portal said in a release.

UPI is a system that powers multiple bank accounts into a single mobile application (of any participating bank), merging several banking features, seamless fund routing and merchant payments into one hood.

With UPI being adopted by 29 banks and bringing them all under one umbrella, user will not have to install multiple apps for different banks any longer, it said.

"By being an early adopter in integrating UPI for our website users, Yatra.com aims at providing convenient user interface to India. At present, there are abundant wallet options available and we wanted to make all the options available to our consumers to facilitate swift payment procedure," Yatra.com chief Operating Officer (B2C) Sharat Dhall said.

Yatra will soon be introducing UPI on its application as well, he said. UPI will bypass IFSC code, bank account number, and addition of a beneficiary by making transactions easy without the need for personal details.
