Ertiga-based Maruti XL6 MPV to get captain seats, black interior & more

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its Ertiga-based premium MPV, the XL6, on 21 August 2019. While we have already seen the exterior of the 6-seater MPV thanks to various spy shots, latest images have now given us a glimpse of its interior.
From what is visible in the spy shots, the cabin layout of the XL6 looks identical to that of the Ertiga. However, it gets an all-black finish instead of the Ertiga’s beige interior. Also visible in the spy shots are second-row captain seats which replace the bench-type seat found in the standard Ertiga. While the standard Ertiga comes with fabric upholstery even in the top-spec Z+ variant, the XL6 gets a leatherette finish.
The test mule also featured an automatic gearbox, affirming that the XL6 will get both manual (5-speed) and automatic (4-speed) gearbox options with its 1.5-litre petrol engine. The XL6 will get the same 1.5-litre petrol unit that powers the Ertiga. It makes 105PS of power and 138Nm of peak torque. However, the XL6’s motor is expected to be a BS6-compliant version. Unlike the Ertiga, Maruti is unlikely to offer the premium MPV with a diesel engine.
On the outside, Maruti has done enough to give the XL6 a distinctive look, especially at the front. It features new headlamps that are expected to get LED lighting instead of the halogen units seen on the Ertiga. Also new is the front grille and updated front bumper, which also houses a faux skid plate for a more rugged appearance. On the side, the premium MPV gets blacked out alloys, body cladding, roof rails as well as a faux skid plate. Similarly, at the rear, the only visible changes are the body cladding and the faux skid plate.
Maruti will retail the XL6 through its Nexa line of dealerships unlike the Ertiga, which is sold through Arena showrooms. As far as prices are concerned, the XL6 will attract a premium over the Ertiga, which is priced from Rs 7.44 lakh to Rs 11.20 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Once launched, it will rival the 7-seater Marazzo, which is priced from Rs 10.35 lakh to Rs 14.68 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India).
