Land Rover has introduced the petrol variant of the Evoque in the Indian market. It is available only in the 'SE' variant and is priced at Rs 53.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It has a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine under the hood that churns out 240PS of power and 340Nm of torque.
The engine is coupled to a nine-speed transmission which powers all four wheels. It can reach the 100kmph mark from standstill in 7.6 seconds and has a top speed of 217kmph. It also comes loaded with Land Rover's Terrain Response system, which allows you to select between different driving modes -- Grass, Snow, Sand and Rocks.
Features include leather upholstery, an eight-way electric adjust for both front seats, and front and rear parking sensors. Infotainment duties are handled by an eight-inch 'inControl Touch' unit, which supports navigation as well. There are a bunch of feel-good features as well, that include rain-sensing wipers, a tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control and dual-zone automatic air-conditioning. On the safety front, there's a total of seven airbags, anti-lock brakes, and ISOFIX mounts for the child seat.

At Rs 53.20 lakh, the petrol variant is a full lakh cheaper than the equivalent diesel version. That said, we do wish the Evoque petrol was offered in the top-spec HSE/HSE Dynamic variant as well, for all the bells and whistles. Needless to say, we will be driving the Evoque petrol soon.
