Ashok Leyland launches Dost variant in Telangana

The company also has plans to introduce left-hand drive LCVs for export to Russia and Gulf region.

Hyderabad: Ashok Leyland on Monday launched an upgraded variant of popular light commercial vehicle (LCV) Dost called as the ‘Dost +’.

Ashok Leyland plans to come out with new models every six months as they try to gain a higher market share by catering to all categories in the LCV segment
Speaking to the media, Ashok Leyland president, LCVs, Nitin Sethi said,“The Dost+, which is the first launch since our joint venture with Nissan ended, will be first of many to come in the coming few months as we try to fill the gaps in the LCV segment.”

When asked why the additional focus on 2-3.5 tonne segment, Mr Sethi said, “The current market for LCVs below 2 tonnes has halved due to a shortage of drivers. Drivers, these days, are opting to drive for the cab aggregators due to their flexible timings.”

Mr Sethi added, “It also makes business sense when for an additional 30 per cent expense to the driver, one can send more quantity of goods at one time.”

The company also has plans to introduce left-hand drive LCVs for export to Russia and Gulf region.
