Bengaluru, July 23: The high court on Friday partly allowed an appeal by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE) challenging the single bench order on quashing the acquisition notification. A division bench quashed the final notification on acquiring land in Kengeri for a peripheral road from Bheemasandra Education Trust issued on July 5, 2003 and awarded on June 15, 2004.
However, the court had restored the preliminary notification on January 29, 2002, giving liberty to NICE for fresh acquisition proceedings.
Shubha case: Notice to state
A division bench headed by Justice K. Sreedhar Rao on Friday issued notices to the state government and the Viveknagar police following an appeal by Shubha seeking suspension of a lower court verdict against her. A fast-track court had sentenced her to life imprisonment along with her boyfriend Arun Verma, his cousin Dinakar and rowdy Venkatesh for the murder of her fiancé Girish.
File Chargesheet against ‘godman’
The court directed the police to conclude investigation and file a chargesheet against Nithyananda in four weeks. The court warned that if the cops fail to file objections on time it may quash the FIRs as pleaded by the Swami. The petitioner had urged the court to quash the FIR against him and stay the probe.
