Kolkata: Former Team India captain and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly on Monday heaped praise on current captain Virat Kohli, saying that the Delhi batsman should take credit for ‘finisher’ Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s performance this year.
The 45-year-old also felt that the faith put by Virat Kohli in MS Dhoni’s performance has allowed Dhoni to play how he wants.
"When players play for so long, MS has played over 300 ODIs for India, they know how to get runs. More than 9000 runs for Dhoni in one-day cricket and he'll get a few more by the time he finishes. It's the captain's confidence and Virat should get a lot of credit for it because he's put a lot of faith in Dhoni and that allowed MS to play the way he wanted.
"Players are made and players are broken by the faith you show in them. And I think Virat Kohli is responsible for what we are seeing of MS Dhoni today," Ganguly said to India Today.

After a two-hour rain delay, India eventually defeated Australia by 26 runs, as the world champions failed to pursue the revised target of 164 from 21 overs.
Virat Kohli and co will now play the second ODI against Steve Smith’s Australia in Kolkata on Thursday, hoping to extend their lead to 2-0 in the five-match ODI series.
