Port Elizabeth: India scripted history on Tuesday after they claimed their first ODI series win in South Africa after beating the hosts by 73 runs in the fourth ODI of the six-match series in Port Elizabeth.

After Virat Kohli and co set up a target of 275 for the Proteas to chase, the hosts were bundled out for a modest 201 with the duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav rocking the opposition batting.

However, Hardik Pandya also had a key role to play in the second innings, having a hand in the dismissals of JP Duminy, AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla.

Amla looked like taking the game away from the visitors with an influential knock of 71, but Pandya inflicted a direct-hit to send the opener back to the pavilion. However, that was it from the star all-rounder, who failed to open his account with the bat earlier.

During the 42nd over of the innings, Pandya produced a moment of magic with a mind-blowing one hand catch to help Kuldeep dismiss Tabraiz Shamsi and claim his fourth wicket.

The right-hander lofted the ball in the air between long-off and long-on and both fielders, Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan came close to collide without taking a call.

With the win, the Men in Blue also toppled Aiden Markram’s side to claim the number one spot in the ICC ODI Rankings.
