Johannesburg: South Africa are donning the pink colour when they are locking horns with India in the fourth ODI of the Momentum Series at the New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg on Saturday. The match will see the hosts wearing pink for the sixth time.
The colour is also a good luck charm for the Proteas, as they are yet to lose a match whenever they have played a pink ODI. But the reason behind the kit colour change is for a noble cause.

The pink jersey is worn as an initiative to increase breast cancer awareness. The money generated from the fourth ODI will go to the Breast Cancer Clinic at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital that will assist the treatment of cancer patients.
It is learnt that the goal this year is to collect more than Rand 1 million and even fans have been encouraged to don the pink colours.

“The annual Pink Day ODI featured at the Bidvest Wanderers stadium is a big occasion for us. With the risk of breast cancer and its high impact on a family, we are proud of our support in raising awareness and mobilising cricket fans through the PinkDrive campaign,” CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat said.
“PinkDrive is one of our foremost social programmes and proves how sport can play a broader role in society,” Lorgat added.
#PitchUpInPink is the hashtag used for the initiative to spread the word on social media.
