Thiruvananthapuram: Former BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai will be the NDA candidate for the Chengannur Assembly by-election.  This was decided at a meeting of the NDA  held here on Wednesday. But BJP state president  Kummanam Rajasekharan did not announce  his name at the  press conference held later.

At the meeting attended by Mr B. L. Santhosh, joint general secretary (organising), the  NDA allies,  including Bharat Dharma Jana Sena, expressed their disappointment over national president Amit Shah giving them false promises on various board appointments.

The Janadhipatya Rashtreeya Sabha, the Kerala Congress led by P. C. Thomas and  JSS led by Rajan Babu were  unhappy with the  BJP   for sidelining  them.  An NDA leader told DC that Santhosh agreed to settle the allies’ demands  before the  by-election.

“Santhosh will facilitate a meeting between  Amit Shah and the NDA allies before the  by-election,” he said. The NDA Alappuzha district meeting will be convened on Monday when an action plan to ensure the victory of the NDA candidate will be chalked out. The NDA’s constituency-level meeting will be held  at Chengannur on March 4.

The meeting here was also attended by BJP national executive committee members P. K. Krishnadas and V. Muraleedharan and  state general secretary M. Ganesh.
