120 colonies of Chilkanagar hassled by wine shops

The people buying liquors from the wine shop resort to consuming it in public, thereby posing a social threat to the locals of the area.

120 colonies of Chilkanagar have been facing trouble with two wine shops and a bar that are located in the residential area for the last eight years now.

Hyderabad: The residents of 120 colonies of Chilkanagar have been facing trouble with two wine shops and a bar that are located in the residential area for the last eight years now.

The people buying liquors from the wine shop resort to consuming it in public, thereby posing a social threat to the locals of the area.

Sanjay Kumar, a private sector employee and a local resident says, “Post 4.30 pm, the scenario is horrific. People who come to buy liquor, park their vehicles on the main road and this causes a problem to the people who walk on the roads.” 

S. Praveen, another local says, “People who are drunk tend to attack the bike riders in public, I have witnessed the attacks a couple of times. Children coming from school and college in the evening time have to encounter such bad behaviour when they enter the colony. The drunk men pass comments and try to molest the girls too sometimes.”

There is a police outpost located on the adjacent side of the bar which has been lying vacant for the last two years. An auto driver, who did not wish to be identified said, “The police personnel come at the outpost only during festival time for Bandobast duty. Had there been a person from the police team deployed here, there would not have been so much of problem.”

P. Venkateswarlu, Inspector of police Uppal, under whom the outpost jurisdiction comes said, “We have not received any complaints so far on the problem which you are talking about, as our patrolling team daily visit that place.”
