Bengaluru: Geethanjali, the 27-year-old software engineer who plunged to her death from the terrace of her 10-floor office building in Cessna Business Park at Kadubeesanahalli on Wednesday, was reportedly upset over her family members forcing her to get engaged with a person, whom she did not want to marry, the police said. The Marathahalli police, who are probing the case, said that it was confirmed beyond doubt that she had committed suicide and there were no signs of any foul play behind her death. “Preliminary investigation has revealed that it is a clear case of suicide.

It is learnt that Geethanjali’s parents had forced her to get engaged with a man against her wishes. As she was not interested in the alliance and as her parents had not listened to her, she was apparently depressed. We are suspecting that this could be the sole reason for the suicide,” an official said. It is learnt that she got engaged to a person on Monday at Goa, but her parents are reportedly tightlipped about it. “Verification of her mobile phone helped us to know that she had got engaged on Monday and her chat history with some of her close friends suggest that she was not happy with it. However, her parents are not willing to share any information as of now, as they are in grief. Everything will be clear in a day or two, after we question them,” the police added.
