Andhra pradesh: SI video settling dispute over kiosk goes viral

The four-month-old video that was aired on Monday purports to show the SI counselling Mr Ramesh Reddy to take money instead of the kiosk.

A 37-year-old man was assaulted by a gang of five on Thursday night after he objected to them smoking ganja near his house in Vyasarpadi.

Vijayawada: A video, stated to be about four months old, surfaced on Monday purportedly showing Krishnalanka sub-inspector Arjun allegedly trying to settle a dispute over a pop corn kiosk at the RTC bus stand. One Ramesh Reddy of Ongole, a long time employee at the Pandit Nehru Bus Station, reportedly secured the kiosk at an auction. Before he could open it, two persons, identified as Saidulu Reddy and Venkateswar Reddy, allegedly took over the kiosk and beat up Mr Ramesh Reddy for questioning them. He complained to the RTC officials and went to the police station.

Mr Ramesh Reddy alleged that sub-inspector Arjun tried to settle the matter without proceeding as per the rules and regulations. Mr Ramesh Reddy alleged that the sub-inspector offered him Rs 8 lakh and claimed that he handed over Rs 4 lakh from Saidulu Reddy. Mr Ramesh Reddy alleged that despite his repeated requests to handing over kiosk, Mr Arjun supported the accused persons.

It is alleged that Mr Ramesh Reddy had initially accepted the offer but changed his mind and leaked the video. It is stated that a departmental inquiry has been instituted into the video.
