Hyderabad: The body of a pregnant woman who died during delivery was not allowed into her village because of the superstition that a person dying on Amavasya day will bring ill luck to the village. This inhumane and shocking act of the villagers forced her husband to place the body in a tent on the bank of a lake while he made arrangements for the last rites. The backward village is Turkayamjal in Abdullapurmet mandal.

G. Malati, the 30-year-old wife of Mallesh, lived in Indiramma Colony in Abdullapurmet.
