Mysuru: Rangayana's Bahuroopi begins

Mysuru: Art, theatre and literary lovers flooded the venue of the annual theatre extravaganza – Bahuroopi – an eight day national theatre festival on the theme ‘Migration,’ at Rangayana in Mysuru Sunday evening. 

Senior theatre personality, Girish Karnad who was unwell, participated in the programme with an oxygen facilitating box. “I have a problem with my lungs, which is why even in a recent Hindi movie ‘Tiger Zinda Hai,’ I acted with oxygen support,” he said. 

The fest features 24 plays including nine dramas by theatre groups from other states, nine Kannada plays from the state including those from Rangayana and six one-man shows among others. 

The cultural programmes include street plays, Malla Kamba, Jogathi Nruthya and others. For movie buffs, 24 movies from across the world are being screened. This festival was inaugurated by Sandalwood stars Vijayalakshmi Singh and Jai Jagdeesh.

A two day national seminar scheduled for January 20 and 21, will have discussions on  Migration-Politics and Human Rights, sociological and cultural forms of migration, agriculture, environment and technology.
