The city has seen an onslaught of pop acts taking over the music scene and here we have a  true-blue rock group that can't help but roll with their jams! D's Kitchen has been around since late 2014 performing live and writing and recording their own music. With two albums to their credit, their August album release This Side of the Border has gained them fair recognition in the music circle. We ask them about sticking to the rock genre, their music, upcoming releases and more..

With collective influences like Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Oasis, these guys have found their voices with the rock genre. Vocalist Rohit comments, “Personally this seems to be the genre we connect to and it's what we have grown up listening to. When we're put up in a room, the direction of the song always seem to rock and roll, nothing else.”

The band confesses that their name has no real meaning behind it but it looks like the jam room sessions when they write their music is a bit like pottering in the kitchen. Madhusudhan says, “Our dynamics are such that we don't work on parts separately. Everything happens in the jam room. It usually begins with a riff that Vaibhav comes with and I join him on the bass and the rest follows.” Their own lives and the will to pursue their dreams were their biggest inspiration as Vaibhav quips, “The songs are meant to represent the things we were going through at the time in our personal lives and as a band trying to get our music out to the people. All the inspiration for the album came from whatever we were dealing with at the time.”

The boys will be taking their music on the road with shows planned for December and the next year. Drummer Madhusudan Kumar adds, “We started out by calling ourselves an indie rock band but our latest album sounds like straight up rock. This is the music that we want to make. In today's age of overproduced electronic music where rock is dying out we still feel like creating for the voice of rock. Right now, we want to tour the album as much as possible and play abroad. We have a lot of content planned around the album which will be out soon.”

Their five man lineup has Rohit Kamath  on vocals, Vaibhav Kumar and Himanshu Arora on guitars, Nipun Narayanan on bass and Madhusudan Raman on drums and will be performing live on Thursday (November 23) at Hard Rock Cafe.
