It’s almost Diwali time and cinephiles as usual are in for a treat. Several keenly-awaited movies of big stars are gearing up for Diwali release.

Mohanlal starrer ‘Monster’ is likely to be released on Oct. 21, while Kannada fans will be able to enjoy their favorite star, Puneeth Rajkumar for one last time on screen as ‘Gandhada Gudi (GG), which turned out to be his swan song, will have a theatrical release on Oct. 28. The trailers for these two movies were released on Sunday.

The 2.40 minutes long trailer of ‘Gandhada Gudi’ seems to be straight out of some National Geographic or Discovery documentary. The trailer takes viewers to a ‘special island’ and promises “a new immersive cinematic experience”. ‘Gandhada Gudi’ has been described as “an epic musical celebration of our blessed land, precious culture, and incredible stories at an unprecedented scale.”

Directed by Amoghavarsha, it will be released in Kannada, Hindi, and English languages.

Puneeth Rajkumar died on October 29, 2021.

Commenting upon the trailer, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Appu lives in the hearts of millions around the world. He was brilliance personified, full of energy and blessed with unparalleled talent. #GandhadaGudi is a tribute to Mother Nature, Karnataka’s beauty and environmental conservation. My best wishes for this endeavour.” (sic)

Earlier, the trailer was tweeted by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar. She tagged the Prime Minister and reminded him of the interactions he and her late husband had.

Continuing the trend of geriatric gentlemen headlining major projects, Mohanlal is seen as a Sardar for the first time in his over four-decade-long career. The 1.48 minutes long trailer shows Mohanlal sporting a beard and a Pagdi. His character’s name is Lucky Singh. “Hey Puttar, Mere Naal Chal,” is his opening dialogue in Punjabi in the trailer. Mohanlal says, “Let’s start the game again” making it amply clear that the movie is going to be a thriller that talks about a fake investigation.

The movie has been directed by Vysakh and written by Uday Krishna. Besides Mohanlal, it stars Sidhique, Manchu Lakshmi, Honey Rose, Sudev Nair, Ganesh Kumar, Lena among others.

As expected, fans have lapped up the trailers. On YouTube Midhun M said, “Lalettan Vaishak combo. That’s enough. Expecting more than a superhit. Quality trailer.” (sic)

“As always you are amazing... eager to watch #Monster,” tweeted AmitSri16. (sic)

Appu fans became emotional sharing their reaction. Sharan Meti wrote on YouTube, “It's not cinema only. It’s emotions of billion hearts. He's not only hero, he’s our God. 🙏 Miss you Appu ❤ 😞😟.” (sic)

Another fan with Mehendi Hub id, said, “His smile, innocence and that spark in his eyes is unforgettable ❤️❤️❤️.” (sic)

Needless to say, within minutes, these trailers have been viewed by thousands of fans, commented upon, and widely shared.

Earlier, Akshay Kumar too had dropped a teaser for his ‘Ram Sethu’ slated to be released on October 25. The movie stars Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Jacqueline Fernandez. It will also mark the Hindi debut of Telugu actor Satyadev. The movie has been written and directed by Abhishek Sharma.

The trailer of another Hindi release ‘Thank God’, featuring Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet Singh is already out. It too releases on Oct. 25. The movie is directed by Indra Kumar.

Besides these, we have Marathi movie ‘Har Har Mahadev’ written and directed by Abhijeet Deshpande. The movie is a biopic of Baji Prabhu Deshpande, one of the most trusted and brave lieutenants of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Sharad Kelkar essays the role of Baji Prabhu Deshpande. The movie, starring Amrita Khanwilkar and Sayli Sanjeev among others, will be released on Oct. 25 in Marathi, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada.

So, all movie buffs get ready for fireworks at the BO this Diwali.
