Dileep quizzed again in actress abduction case

Kochi: Actor Dileep, who is out on bail in the actress  assault case, was again quizzed by the Special Investigation Team for over two hours on Wednesday as part of its efforts to submit a fool-proof supplementary chargesheet.

According to sources, the investigation officers primarily wanted to determine where Dileep was when the actress was attacked on February 17 night.  The probe had revealed that  Dileep had “obtained” a fake medical certificate to show that he was admitted to hospital at that time.

The investigation officers wanted to pre-empt any move by the opposition camp to argue that the accused was at another place during the attack. Dileep was called to the Aluva police club around 10 a.m. and the interrogation lasted for over two hours. 

Post-noon, his brother Anoop was also summoned and quizzed for nearly an hour over suspected attempts to influence witnesses in the case.

They were interrogated by a team led by SP Sudarshanan and CI Baiju Paulose. Though Dileep’s former manager Appunni was also asked to appear before the team, he failed to turn up.

Earlier, the cops had questioned the doctor and the hospital staff and found that Dileep “had not stayed at the hospital on that night, but had  gone home”  contrary to what was claimed in the medical certificate.
