Mumbai: It was earlier reported that Akshay Kumar starrer R. Balki’s social drama Padman will clash with Rajinikanth’s mega budget sci-fi 2.0, also starring Akshay in the role of an antagonist. The news confused and shocked people as the clash was rather unusual one. But now Akshay himself spoke about the topic to clear for one and all that this clash is not happening at the box office.

In an interview to Mid-Day, Akshay asked, ‘Why would I clash with my own film? It will be either Padman or 2.0.” So basically, he is putting the anxieties of his fans to rest as both the films would not clash. But which film would shift its date? “While Padman is a film that I have produced, 2.0 belongs to Shankar, Rajinikanth and Lyca Productions. They will decide whether they want to release the film on Republic Day. If they do, I will postpone Padman and if they don’t, I will go ahead,” the actor said.

Its been speculated that Shankar’s mega budget sci-fi drama wouldn’t be able to meet to its promise of January 25 release as the team is still to get over the VFX and other post production work. Although nothing has been announced officially.

It would be interesting to see which film takes the release slot of Republican weekend in 2018.
