Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan hasn’t seen a proper blockbuster in years, but that didn’t stop him from signing Gauri Shinde’s ‘Dear Zindagi,’ a film that would see him play second fiddle to Alia Bhatt.

Critics and audience alike lauded his decision to do the part, whilst also applauding his performance as the delectable Dr. Jehangir Khan.

However, the star, who was last seen in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal,’ recently revealed that he had accepted the film, purely to work alongside Alia.

“Maine thoda sa kaam kiya hai tumhari saath. Maine Dear Zindagi main isliye kaam kiya kyun ki mujhe tumhare saath kaam karna tha. Mujhe tum main kuch ajeeb si harkat lagti hai as an actor. Mujhe aisa lagta hai main tumhare saath baithoonga, baat karunga, shayad ek do scene karunga, to woh harkat mujh main aa jayegi aur main better actor ban sakunga. Honestly, Waise hi bahot sare log jo jaante hai tumhe woh maante hai yeh. (I’ve worked a little with you. I worked in Dear Zindagi because I’d wanted to work with you. I find something very strange in your style of acting. And I believe if I work with you, spend time with you, do a couple of scenes with you, I might be able to emulate that style. Honestly, most people who know you agree on this),” he told her during the show.

Well, we couldn’t agree more!

While SRK will next be seen in Aanand L. Rai’s next, Alia will be seen in Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Raazi,’ alongside Vicky Kaushal.
