Mumbai: Abhishek Kapoor's next directorial venture and Sara Ali Khan debut vehicle, Kedarnath, which was supposed to hit the screens in June 2018 , has reportedly been postponed to the end of 2018. Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara Ali Khan will be making her debut with this movie opposite Sushant Singh Rajput.
According to a report in Mid-Day, the shooting of the film has been extended because of one crucial sequence. The director is planning to recreate the set in Mumbai, as they couldn’t shoot at the real locations at the moment. This has pushed the release of the film further.
A source close to the development told the daily, "The makers felt that the sequence deserves a grander canvas. So, they have decided to recreate the town of Kedarnath in Mumbai. The set will be erected by February next year. Abhishek intends to wrap up the sequence by June. This has, in turn, pushed the release."
The report also suggests that the makers have roped in a VFX team from Los Angeles to effectively show the natural disaster on screen . "Gallons of water will be used to create the flood effect. The sequence will be high on VFX," added the source.
Producer Prernaa Arora confirmed the news, "It's going to be a challenging shoot. I completely believe in Gattu's (Kapoor) vision."
Kedarnath is a love story of a young couple, being played by Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput, set against the backdrop of pilgrimage, and the dangerous natural calamity that hit Uttarakhand in 2013.
While Sushant Singh Rajput is currently busy shooting for Tarun Mansukhani’s Drive alongside Jacqueline Fernandez and Sanjay Puran Singh’s Chanda Mama Door Ke, Sara hasn’t signed any other film yet.
