Roads to link RK Puram flyover-Safilguda, Safilguda-Allahabad Gate.

Hyderabad: The state government has finalised the alternative internal roads in the AOC area for commuters who are presently using Gough Road. The Telangana chief secretary, with the GHMC, has completed a survey at the AOC and finalised a 60-feet road from Ramakrishna Puram railway station up to the Safilguda railway station. Another 100-feet road had been finalised from the Safilguda Railway Gate to the Allahabad Gate next to the ABC lines on the East Marredpally side.

This road will join Wellington Road, passing behind the Tapar Stadium on West Marredpally to reach the Secunderabad Club route. The alternative routes have been presented to the defence minister who is scheduled to tour AOC in the first week of February. According to a senior GHMC official, the joint survey conducted by the GHMC and local military authorities focused mainly on the present traffic volumes on the two principal AOC roads leading into the Secunderabad – Gough Road and Ordinance Road.

“Study was done to find a comprehensive solution to the problem for the civilian traffic on these two AOC roads. The comprehensive report sent to the Defence ministry in detail explained the time and land required to develop alternative roads and requested the defence minster not to close these roads till the new ones were ready. “These proposed alternative 60-feet and 100-feet roads are planned as substitutes for those presently using Entrenchment Road, Gough Road and Ordinance Road through AOC swimming pool. The cost of construction of these alternative roads has been estimated at around '100 crore. The development and construction work is expected to take about 18 months.”
