Zilla Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat election likely in February, says poll panel

Mysuru: Elections to the Zilla Panchayats and Taluk Panchayats in the state are likely to be held in the second or third week of February.

The dates for the elections will be officially announced in the second week of this month, said the State Election Commissioner, Mr P.N. Shrinivasachari.

Mr Shrinivasachari was speaking to mediapersons after holding a review meeting on the preparations for the polls with the deputy commissioners, superintendents of police and other officials of all districts coming under Mysuru revenue division here on Monday. he said that the elections would be held in two phases across the state. The Nota option will be introduced in the elections, the state election commissioner said.
