Congress to harp on its role in Hyderabad development

The TPCC chief said that the TRS has started playing mind games.

Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday called upon Greater Hyderabad City Congress leaders to convey a message to the electorate that every development in the city was the contribution of the Congress and that the TRS has done nothing for Hyderabad.

He asked the Congress leaders to tell the voters that in the last 19 months, the TRS government had not only neglected making any improvement in the city, but in fact had ruined the city on many aspects.

Addressing division-level party leaders in the Prakasam Hall in the Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday evening, the TPCC chief said that the TRS has started playing mind games with GHMC voters and as part of this, the ruling party’s leaders are brandishing a survey report that says that the TRS will sweep the polls. Besides, the ruling party has also “managed” some Telugu news channels by browbeating them, he said, adding that these news channels have started airing special bulletins on the ‘bogus’ surveys.

Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress has been strong in city politics and it had got a majority of the seats even in the last GHMC polls.

He said that as per indications, there would be only a few days for campaigning and hence the party should start the roadshow from Monday itself.

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly K. Jana Reddy said that the TRS has been working to demoralise the Congress and its leadership as part of a plan and was trying to control the GHMC, a move that will be resisted. Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy said that applications from aspirants for party tickets would be received from Monday.

Incidentally, there was a major traffic jam in front of the Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday evening as hundreds of party workers thronged the place seeking tickets, coupled with visitors to the annual Numaish.
