EFLU’s Kashmir protest influenced three cousins

The Hyderabad police had received a complaint from EFLU student organisations.

Hyderabad: The EFLU protest angle of “No more Kashmir blood” has a connect with Dukhtaran E Millat chief Ms Asiyan Andrabi whom the three cousins wanted to meet. DeM had resorted to violent protests in the Kashmir valley after the death of Muddassir Kamran, an EFLU student, and Ms Andrabi had termed the suicide as murder in 2013.

According to the police, the protest movement – “No more Kashmir blood” – in EFLU following the death of Muddassir Kamran had instigated several youths to radicalise. Police said that two of the terror cousins, Abdul Basith and Maaz Hassan, used to watch kashmirintifadaa (Kashmir resistance) a YouTube channel, which had several anti-India videos like “Dr Mudasir Kamran - A Kashmiri Muslim Murdered at EFLU Hyderabad”. The video had 15,938 views. The channel also had videos of Afzal Guru.

The Kashmiri groups had alleged that Kamran had been murdered for leading the funeral prayers for Mohammad Afzal Guru. On March 11, 2013 DC had reported that the online campaign against the police and EFLU had been given an anti-India colour. The groups had claimed that “Kashmir intifada is the struggle against Indian occupation forces”.

The Hyderabad police had received a complaint from EFLU student organisations on March 2 stating that Kamran had committed suicide in his room. They claimed in the complaint that the reason for the suicide was the continuous harassment by the proctor, Prof. Harish Kumar Vijra.

Police found that Kamran had a tiff with a fellow student, Vasim Salim, and based on his complaint, the proctor had issued a notice and had also admonished both of them.

There were protests in EFLU and DeM had led widespread violent protests in Mudassir’s native village Parigam of Pulwama district. His father believes that he was victimised for his pro-Azaadi stand. However, the then DCP of East Zone of Hyderabad police was clueless about this anti India campaign.
