Woman set afire in UP's Etah in alleged case of dowry death

She was being harassed and beaten by in-laws over their demand for a buffalo.

Etah: A 22-year-old was allegedly set on fire and four people, including her husband, have been booked in a case of dowry death at Maharajpur village in Jasrathpur area here, police said.

According to the first information report filed on Tuesday by deceased Aarti's brother, she was being harassed and beaten by her in-laws over their demand for a buffalo since her marriage to Suneel three years ago, they said.

This Monday, Aarti was set on fire and burnt to death, his brother Viresh Kumar has alleged in the FIR, police said, adding four persons including Suneel, both his parents and a brother have been booked for the killing.

No arrests have so far been made in the case and probe is underway, police said.
