Former Miss Tamil Nadu to direct a romantic flick

The movie went on floors on Sunday at Hyderabad.
Former Miss Tamil Nadu Hashika Dutt, who is hardly four films old in Tamil, is trying her hands at direction with the bilingual film Baby Doll. She also plays the lead in the movie which is being made in Tamil and Telugu. The movie went on floors on Sunday at Hyderabad. She speaks to DC about her new avatar.
She says, “I was always passionate about being at the helm of a movie. I did a course in filmmaking at in Bengaluru and worked as an associate director in many films. While I was shooting for a Telugu film, I met producer Khuddus Basha and narrated the script of Baby Doll to him, and he was impressed.”
Hashika says that the movie is a youthful romantic comedy which dwells about how boys dream about their future wife. Quiz her why a relatively newbie, Manas, has been cast as the male lead? “The movie has equal space for both the hero and heroine. Though I approached Nani to play the protagonist, he could not allocate dates due to his prior commitments. After considering a few others, Manas came on board as he fitted the role perfectly.”
Hashika plays an outspoken college student in the movie which has an ensemble lineup of veterans like Bhagyaraj, Poornima, Sithara, Samudhrakani, Brahmanandam, Motta Rajendhran and Kota Srinivasa Rao.
