Questions remain over Dale Steyn’s availability

South Africa are down 0-2 in the series having lost the Mohali and Nagpur Tests by big margins
New Delhi: South Africa pacer Dale Steyn may miss the fourth and final cricket Test at the Kotla here. A key component in the visiting team’s campaign, Steyn has been out of action after he suffered a groin injury in the opening Test at Mohali.
On the day, the 32-year-old skipped the nets session as the teams gathered in the capital for the fourth Test. Said South Africa assistant coach Adrian Birrell, “He is still nursing a little bit of groin injury. You know with fast bowlers, groin takes a little more time to get right. We need him a 100 per cent before we play him in a Test match. He will undergo another round of fitness on Wednesday to make sure whether he is hundred percent before a decision is made.”
With South Africa set to face England in a four-match Test series at home up next, the think-tank might opt to give their bowling mainstay enough time to recover. South Africa are down 0-2 in the series having lost the Mohali and Nagpur Tests by big margins. The Bengaluru game ended in a draw.
