Missing poll official’s body found in Ernakulam

The body recovered at around 2.30 pm on Tuesday was in advanced stage of decomposition

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The body of a revenue official based in Attingal who went missing during election duty at Ernakulam was found from water-filled granite quarry off NH47 at Sasthamukal near Chottanikkara on Tuesday.

The deceased SR Arun, 32 of Avanancherry, Attingal went missing while on election duty at Kolancherry ST Peter’s school on November 4 afternoon. He was the Village Extension Officer (VEO) of Kolancherry, Ernakulam.

The body recovered at around 2.30 pm on Tuesday was in advanced stage of decomposition. A mobile phone that is believed to be Arun's was also recovered from the spot by Chottanikara police.

His colleagues have identified the body which is presently kept at Alappuzha Medical College, said Puthencruz Sub Inspector G Pushpakumar. Ernakulam rural police team probing the man missing case had launched an inter-state probe to find the man. He leaves his parents Sasidharan and Radha, wife Simi and two-year-old son Aadis.
