GHMC polls: Danam Nagender put on notice

TPCC told to identify alternative if sulking continues

Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Congress president Danam Nagender has been put on notice by Congress high command.

AICC general-secretary Digvijay Singh took stock of the situation vis-a-vis the GHMC elections during his detailed meeting with state Congress leaders Uttam Kumar Reddy, K. Jana Reddy and Shabbir Ali in Delhi on Tuesday.

The state leaders informed Mr Singh that though the AICC has appointed a 24-member coordination panel with Mr Nagender as the convener, he was still not taking interest and was not actively involving himself in party affairs.

Expressing anger over this, Mr Singh asked the state leaders to identify another leader who is capable of leading the party in the ensuing polls.

He also remarked that for the sake of an individual who is not interested, the party shouldn’t be put at risk at such a crucial time.

At this stage, Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy assured Mr Singh that they would personally speak to Mr Nagender in a day or two and inform him whether he is willing to be active or not.
