Akkulam suicide victim’s sister also found dead

Body of Sajina, sibling of Jasmine, was found on railway track

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One more member of a family that committed suicide on Sunday was found dead on a railway track near Pettah on Monday.

Sajina, 28, an employee of the Thiruvananthapuram airport and sister of Jasmine whose body was fished out of Akkulam lake along with her daughter's the previous night, was also suspected to have committed suicide.

Their mother Sofida, who also jumped into the lake, was rescued while an onlooker prevented Jasmine's two children from taking the extreme step.

The police arrested Nazar of Alamcode near Attingal for allegedly cheating the family of a big amount of money.

Jasmine's husband Rahim was said to be jailed in Qatar following a debt-trap, and the family had raised about Rs. 1.20 crore by selling off some properties.

The proceeds were handed over to Nazar for sending to Qatar. But he was suspected to have cheated the family driving them to the brink.

Police had recovered Jasmine's suicide note from their house. Sajina was suspected to have killed herself over the shock of the previous deaths.
