According to the students, they didn’t find the exam too tough, compared to previous years.
The CAT 2015 exam was held in 24 centres across the city, as well as in other important cities of the state, including Mysuru, Tumakuru etc.
The highlight of this year's examination is that in the city, many transgenders appeared for the examination.
Most candidates felt the questions weren’t too taxing compared to previous years.
With exam organisers drawing up strict rules for admission, no reports of any malpractice cropped up in the city.
Questions on expected lines
Even though more than 10,000 students were supposed to attend the examination, in many examination centers many students did not turn up for the examination. As exams were scheduled only in the engineering colleges, no reports of any technical glitches surfaced.
According to the students, questions were along expected lines. One of the interesting questions asked in this year's examination was related to immigration.
Meenal, a candidate tweeted after the examination, that one of the reading comprehension passages was about how immigration makes total sense! Most of the candidates informed DC that the exam was good, but the ‘cut off’ may be above 90% in all the 13 IIMs.
According to Mr. Raju Mishra, a techie working in a private firm in the Electronic city, compared to previous years there was not much difference in the difficulty level. “But definitely the cut-off will be high,” he said.
Transgenders too appear for exam
According to the exam organizers, out of 80 transgenders who had applied for the CAT 2015 many were writing examinations in the city.
According to Mr. Srinivas Belvi, CAT Course Director TIME, Bengaluru, “Students have reported that the Candidate Verification Process was done in a very efficient manner this year with the mandatory photograph and fingerprints being recorded in less than a minute.
“At a couple of centres, it was reported that no frisking was done before allowing test takers to enter the examination centre. At a couple of centres, it was reported that there was no record kept of the rough sheets given to the students (which students are supposed to account for while returning the same after the completion of the exam),” he said. He also observed that 65-70 out of 100 attempts may ensure more than 95% for the students.
