The latest leaks suggest that the 3.5mm EarPods that Apple has been using since iPhone 5 now, may soon go obsolete with the release of the next generation iPhone. Rumour has it that Apple plans to design the iPhone 7 much more sleeker than the present iPhone 6S. Consequently, a sleeker housing will be unable to sport a conventional earphone jack, thus working on an alternative.

As mentioned at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) last year, Apple may develop lightning-enabled headphones, which essentially means that the headphones would work through the iPhone’s lightning charging port.

Apple hasn’t come forward to confirm any of this yet.
