Taliban militant involved in polio team attack arrested in Pakistan

Case of this brutal attack was registered in the Hazara police station

Peshawar: A top Pakistani Taliban militant who is accused of involvement in attacks on anti-polio workers, was arrested on Friday, police said.

Siraj alias Ameer Sahib was apprehended by the Counter Terrorism Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police from Manshera district.

Siraj is the resident of Tanda in Manshera district and is affiliated with banned Tahrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He was involved in the attack on anti-Polio team at

Kodana Sheikhabad in Manshera on March 17 in which two woman health workers and a police constable were killed.

The case of this brutal attack was registered in the Hazara police station under various sections of law including the Anti Terrorism Act.

The accused during preliminary investigation disclosed that he along with co-accused Shah Umar alias Muhammad Ali and Muhammad Khan, residents of Batagram, killed the polio team members by firing at them.

The accused was arrested on secret information and was shifted to undisclosed location for further investigation.
