Pinga row blown out of proportion: Shreya Ghoshal

Shreya calls the Pinga controversy unnecessary and talks about life after marriage
Shreya Ghoshal, known for her melodious renditions continues to be one of the most in demand singers despite the stiff competition in the industry.
In a chat with us Shreya says she feels fortunate with the kind of work coming her way. “There have always been questions like is she the contemporary Ashaji etc. I believe every song needs a certain voice and if I suit the song, people will approach me. I have never told anyone mere liye gana bana do. But yes, I will put in extra effort to perfect a song.”
With her latest work for Bajirao Mastani, while Shreya has been winning hearts, unfortunately the Pinga number is embroiled in controversy. “For me, the movie is special because it’s not the regular ‘formula music’ of today. I had Sanjayji (Bhansali) sitting on the console and giving me references of the best of lengends. Few people get this kind of guidance. I was like a student, learning from him. As for the controversy, these controversies get blown out of proportion. When a big movie releases there are sparks around it. The Bajirao-Mastani story has not been very well documented in history and versions changes from time to time to time. The controversies are unnecessary.”
Shreya got married early this year in a hush hush ceremony. Was it intentional? “I’ve always been a private person. I wanted a simple wedding with family and childhood friends in attendance, plus the wedding was decided last minute. I married my best friend we know each other for more than 10 years so life hasn’t changed post marriage. He’s a techie but he is fond of music. Life is perfect now.”
