Austrian teenager, who joined ISIS, beaten to death for trying to escape Syria

Samra Kesinovic had run away from her home in 2014 to become a ISIS fighter

Vienna: Austrian teen Samra Kesinovic, who joined ISIS in 2014, was beaten to death by Islamic State fighters for trying to escape Syria, according to reports. Samra's friend, Sabina Selimovic, who had accompanied her, is believed to be missing.

17-year-old Samra had run away from her home in Vienna, leaving her family a note, to inform them that she and Sabina had left for Syria to become Islamic State fighters. ‘Don't look for us. We will serve Allah — and we will die for him,’ Samra's note to her parents allegedly said.

While the two youngsters were motivated to fight for ISIS initially, reports say they later expressed desire to go back to their families. Samra was brutally beaten to death by ISIS fighters while Sabina is still missing.

Both Samra and 15-year old Sabina left Vienna together and embarked on their dangerous path to the extremist organisation in April 2014. The two had allegedly married ISIS fighters after being radicalised.

The two friends would post pictures of themselves on Facebook, where they were seen clad in burqas or dressed as Islamist fighters, surrounded by armed jihadi branding Kalashnikov rifles. (Photo: Twitter)

Young and beautiful, the photos of these two teenage girls were used by the ISIS to inspire other young women to join the extremist organisation.

The Islamic State has been increasingly trying to recruit young women because they believe that people killed by women do not attain a place in heaven.

The interior and foreign ministry of Austria has however declined from confirming the reports and there is no official confirmation on Samra's death.

"We cannot comment on individual cases," Foreign Ministry spokesman Thomas Schnöll told the Austria Press Agency. The spokesman of the Interior Ministry too refused to make any statement on the matter.
