Too early to discuss CM candidate: Kanam Rajendran

Kanam said the LDF would definitely have a leader for the Assembly poll

THIRUVANANTHPURAM: CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran on Tuesday said that it was too early to discuss whether Opposition leader V. S. Achuthanandan should lead the LDF in 2016 Assembly poll.

Kanam said the LDF would definitely have a leader for the Assembly poll. "There is enough time to discuss about the candidature of Achuthanandan. There is no need for hurry," he said.

The CPI state secretary had created a stir last week declaring that Achuthanandan would lead the LDF in the next poll.

Earlier, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury had given enough hints about Achuthanandan contesting the next elections when he said that age would not be a factor for deciding candidates.

Even Achuthanandan has made it clear that he would take a call on fighting the elections on the basis of the aspirations of people and parties. The veteran leader has taken the battle against RSS-BJP-SNDP combine to the next level, taking on Vellapally's Samatwa Munneta Yatra head on.

The Opposition leader has forced other political parties including Congress and Muslim League to step up attack against Vellapally's yatra.
