Terming Aamir Khan’s statement as “nonsense”, he said, “I can’t speak for a filmstar”

Hyderabad: AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday said that Muslims would not leave the country, come what may, and that they would continue to live here as “proud Indians”.

Terming Bollywood star Amir Khan’s statement as “nonsense”, he said, “I can’t speak for a filmstar. I can only speak as a proud Indian Muslim that I will never succumb to all these dog whistle politics of the Sangh Parivar and other fascist organisations.”

Maintaining that fascist forces cannot create frighten the Muslims, he said, “This is our country. As long as life on earth survives, Muslims will live in India as proud Indians.”

“Our fight is with the parties in power as they did not give us the rights guaranteed in the Constitution. Still this is our country. We will continue to fight. We will continue to struggle,” he added.
