Chetia's lawyer Bijon Mahajan told reporters in the court premises that the ULFA leader was sent to judicial custody and will be produced before court on December 5. He will be lodged in Guwahati Central Jail, Mahajan said.

48-year-old Chetia was arrested by CBI under RC (Regular Case) No. 4(S)/1988 in connection with a murder in Golaghat (Assam).

He was produced in the SJM CBI Court on November 18, which remanded him in CBI custody for five days. At the end of the CBI remand, Chetia was produced before the court today amidst tight security.

The ULFA general Secretary was brought to Guwahati this morning reportedly from Delhi and was directly taken from the airport here to Assam Police Special Branch headquarters at Kahilipara before being produced in the court at 4 PM.

After he was handed over to India by Bangladesh and brought to Delhi on November 11, Chetia was arrested the next day by CBI, which took a six-day transit remand there, the lawyer said.
