Promise-performance gap irks TRS men

Mr Rao talked of building skyscrapers around Hussainsagar but not even the locations were identified
Hyderabad: What has upset the TRS cadre and urban voters is that even the first stage of Metro Rail, between Nagole and Mettuguda, that was supposed to begin in April this year, was blocked by the TRS government when everything was ready.
The government also stopped Metro works near Assembly, Sultan Bazaar etc. in the name of realignment for 15 months, leading to further delay in the project.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had announced grandiose plans to develop Hyderabad as a “global city” in June 2014 but not even one major initiative could be launched / executed / completed in these 17 months.
Mr Rao talked of building skyscrapers around Hussainsagar but not even the locations were identified. He talked about building skyways and multi-level flyovers, for which tenders were called only recently but there were no takers.
He promised to make the city slum-free by building 2BHK houses in slums, but just 396 houses, that too only in Sanathnagar, were constructed and handed over to beneficiaries last week.
He announced to clean up the Hussainsagar but that too was stopped midway leading to unbearable stink in the area.
The CM had also announced constructing Vinayaksagar in Indira Park for immersion of Ganesh idols to save Hussainsagar; but this too failed to see the light of day.
“It’s disgusting to see TRS hoardings across the city publicising rural-centric schemes. How can the average urban voter coming from middle and above classes or salaried class relate to these schemes? For them the issues are roads, traffic, drainage, drinking water, garbage, pollution, street lighting etc. Since they did not address any of these issues in these 17 months, they are taking up a rural-centric campaign,” said BJP leader G. Kishan Reddy.
