HYDERABAD: Union minister of state for labour and employment Bandaru Dattatreya has said that he would pursue the demand for new terminals for the city with both the state and central governments.
“Greater Hyderabad needs two more terminals to cater to the growing population. Along with the new terminals, it is necessary that the Railways upgrade and develop Secunderabad railway terminal into a world-class station. There is also a proposal pending in this regard,” he said.
Mr Dattatreya had been pushing these matters when he was Union minister of state for Railways when an NDA’s government was headed by Atal Behari Vajpayee.
Referring to the earlier proposals, He said that the land of old Gandhi Hospital could have been given to the Railways to expand the Secunderabad terminal and its facilities.
Even the bus stands in front of the railway station can be shifted towards the tenth platform side, that is Bhoiguda, to provide more space for the station development.
Whether it is Hitec city, Moula Ali, Vattinagulapalli, Cherlapalli or even Medchal, the city needs more terminals to decongest the existing ones, he stressed.
