Big challenge for me: M M Sreelekha

Music director M.M. Sreelekha on working with uncle Vijayendra Prasad new film
Music director M.M. Sreelekha is composing music for her uncle Vijayendra Prasad’s upcoming film. “It’s a scientific thriller and a women-oriented film. The music is part of the story and it’s not a regular film. I took it up as a challenge,” says Sreelekha.
She adds that the film has a few songs and they are all part of the story. “Even the songs tell the story, it’s not the regular kind of duet numbers. The re-recording is very important for this kind of genre,” she says.
“He (Vijayendra) wants perfection. He won’t go easy on me because I am his brother’s daughter. At work, he sees me as a technician and he has also narrated the story to me to get the right output. Sometimes, he was not satisfied and asked me to come up with something better,” says Sreelekha, adding that he is also very encouraging and always appreciates when he likes something.
“I am looking forward to the film and I am confident that this will be a comeback for me,” adds the music director. She is also working on another film, titled Mounam. “This is also a thriller,” she says.
Sreelekha had made her debut at the age of 12 with Taj Mahal in 1995. Since then she has composed for nearly 75 films in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. She has also sang for more than 3,000 songs in Telugu and Tamil.
