‘Apple man’ wins Limca record for Facebook profile drawings

Mr Antony (42) draws under nickname Apple, and he has completed over 1,014 profile pictures of his friends and follower
KOLLAM: Albert Antony of Thangassery started drawing pencil portraits for Facebook with his wife Johna in July 2014. He has since been receiving several requests. He has now earned the prestigious Limca Book of Records recognition.
Mr Antony (42) draws under nickname Apple, and he has completed over 1,014 profile pictures of his friends and followers.
An advertisement firm’s production supervisor who had his diploma in drawing and painting from Madhava school of arts in Kollam, he is an expatriate of 15 years in Bahrain.
“I keep on receiving pictures, and I draw pencil portraits making them happy,” he told DC. “I contacted Limca, and it set a deadline of June 30 to make the maximum number. They said I had won, and my name would appear in the annual reference book next year.”
He has drawn many biggies like Queen Elizabeth and Mark Zuckerberg - all shared virally. He is also planning to publish a book, Mukha Pusthakam, with all his works in it. It will be the first of its kind in Kerala where every third person is on Facebook.

“I used to receive 30-40 messages in my inbox a day, and I'll finish all those portraits before I call it quits,” he assures those on the waiting list.Apple was his childhood nickname. His home is also "Apple".
He has two sons, Angelo and Aby. Johna is a nurse at a primary health centre in Chavara.
