Hyderabad to emerge start-up capital: KT Rama Rao

Tata says medicine holds good potential for start-ups

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Thursday invited young entrepreneurs across India to come and make use of the country’s best start-up incubator: T-Hub.

“Indians are known for technical talent across the world; but they are not known for their entrepreneurial spirit. They form the backbone of major tech companies and one of them could have been delivered by them,” said IT minister K.T. Rama Rao, after inauguration of start-up incubator on Friday.

Highlighting the theme of T-Hub “Walk in with an idea and walk out with a product,” Mr Rama Rao said the intent behind setting such a world class incubator is to make Hyderabad, the start-up capital of India.

“This incubator is not just for those in Hydera-bad or those from Telan-gana. Any young Indian from anywhere in the country could come here and we will hand hold them,” the minister said.

Governor E.S.L. Naras-imhan, meanwhile, ask-ed entrepreneurs to tap the talent of students and those from villages.

Appreciating the start-up ecosystem in India, Tata Sons chairman em-eritus Ratan Tata said incubators like T-Hub are the nucleus of the bigger technological transformation in India.

Answering a query from an entrepreneur, Mr Tata said medical and healthcare-related technological breakthroughs would present the next wave of opportunities to Indian startups.

On relevance of Nano, he said it was developed as something to give the family on a two-wheeler a four-wheel transport.
